ASUS Aims to Sell 30 Million Smartphones Globally in 2016

ASUS plans to raise smartphone shipments to 30 million units this year, up 46% year on year against the 20.5 million units in 2015, with special focus on the Indian and Japanese markets, reported the Economic Daily News on January 26. ASUS said that total shipments of its ZenFone series have totaled over 28 million units globally, of them over three million units were sold in India. In Japan, ASUS is the bestseller of SIM-free smartphones, witnessing around 60% growth in shipments last year. ASUS said that 2016 will be a critical year as the company targets at the "Major League" of the worldwide smartphone market, striving to become the world's top 10 largest smartphone vendors by shipment volume.
